I have better sense than to jump up there in the first place.

I believe in people taking responsibility for their actions. The guy should have stopped. The woman should never have jumped up there. But I'm afraid of establishing a legal precedent that says it's okay to put yourself into a bad situation and then blame someone else for how it turns out.

Isn't that the basis of the modern legal system in the US? It's always some else's fault. Preferably someone with deep pockets.

I think the anti-phishing stuff is great, but I don't like the way they word it. People who are not very familiar with the internet might get the fishing warning from a "paypal" link and think that it is saying Paypal is a fraudulent site, whereas it is actually saying "this site isn't really paypal."

I agree. It should be made more clear that "eBay" is not fraud, but instead the site being viewed is an imposter. Otherwise people may lose credibility in the warnings/turn them off, thinking that it is warning them about "eBay". Also, I think the integration with Google is great, but I hope Apple opens Safari up to other providers, too. I would love to be able to search Yahoo, Dogpile, Orbitz, or Wikipedia. It seems they are putting all their eggs in the Google basket (I know Google has representation on Apple's board, but still).

No Woodcrest arcoss the board in the Mac Pros? BOO HOO!!! I hope the new monitor rumor is true. I am eyeing up a nice 23" monitor to go along with my new (Woodcrest based?) Mac Pro.There was never any logic to using Woodcrest across the board - only for the Quad. Conroe is just as fast and cheaper for dual core models. :)I don't really like the idea of the macpro line-up having different chips.

I know in order to produce a quad lineup.. they'll have to, and it makes little difference to the end user.... but the idea of using "lesser" chips in the low end model bugs me.Conroe are not "lesser" than Woodcrest. Where did you get that idea? Using one Woodcrest for two core Macs would be a higher manufacturing expense which would translate into more expensive dual core Mac Pros.

I never thought of myself as an iMac type of guy. More of a MBP for work, Mac Pro for home.

Apples hardware release of late have been catching my eye also. Unfortunately the last Mac I owned was a Mac Plus, but Apple has become much more competitive of late.

But the 24" iMac is shaping up to be a great computer. 750 gig drive is sweet, 3 gigs of memory, huge display, and fast.

Yep and with things like Santa Rosa and hopefully continued success with low power processors from Intel I see a long future for the machine. It is a platform that was pretty much dead ended with the lack of the right PPC processors.

I always hated the wires and general visual mess of the normal desktop. Even in the age of bluetooth, there are too many wires.

I don't every see that going completely away. What I do see is far fewer of those wires and more and more hardware sitting on network connections. From what I can see Apple thinks the same way.

I think the 24" iMac is shaping up to be a great prosumer computer. I'm seriously considering purchasing one now.

A very nice machine though to be honest with you, unless this is a Christmas present, I wouldn't bother with a desktop until after new years. Or until after the industry shakes out all of its upgrades and new products.

Yes, but Apple also needs to keep pace with the introduction of new cpus.

Right now Apple is already falling behind by not bringing the line up-to-date with Core 2 Duo chips and better GPU card offerings.

Also I think the S...L...O...W Finder is really hurting Apple. I am hoping that Leopard addresses the carbon finder and gets it up to speed.

New users click on the windows "Start button" and a menu instantly appears. They scroll over an arrow and a submenu instantly appears. Then they move to an Apple machine. They hold the button down over the documents folder on the dock. (1...2....3...) a menu appears. Then they move up the menu to say a music folder (1....2....3...) and the file list appears.

These are the first impresssions! 99% of people walk away from macs with equivalent cpus to a windows box thinking that it is slow because of Finder.
Why navigate large amounts of poorly-labeled menus and sub-menus when what you need is on the dock?

Even so, I've never clicked on a folder and gone to get a cup of coffee. That only happens on my friends' pc's.

If Apple thought this product was actually a big leap, they wouldn't have to announce it in front of a group of fans. I would have like to see them demo the software at the editors guild or have some editors who have used it.

Im sure it will be a great consumer product, but so far there is nothing to say that it is revolutionary or that it's even a good choice for content creation.

What does it feel like to be a complete and utter idiot? I just wanna know because I find the mindset of people like you fascinating.

this doesn't contradict loop insight at all.

they said no iPhone 5 at WWDC. This is saying iPhone 5 is coming shortly after WWDC.

    arn

God this is the best news of tonight, i can finally get rid of my iPhone 3G.
    June will be amazing.

So.. iOS 5 (which is rumored to be a total revamp), A5 Dual Core CPU, upgraded GPU, larger screen, NFC, and a tweaked design yet same form factor. I'm really liking the sound of this.

I agree. Steve Jobs is definitely taking this too far. A lot of people that were indifferent about him, now don't like the guy (based on what I've been reading in news articles and on forums).

+1... Steve is upset because Gizmodo took his spotlight on the KeyNote. Now he cant present the iPhone as first time. Next time you want secrecy, dont let the items get out from Apple Headquarters. Stupid issue. Move on and keep doing nice products...

BTW, I love Apple products... I will buy the iPhone and MBP 15" i7.... APPHOLES....

Exactly how are people going to install Apple software like Aperture or Final Cut? Or re-install the OS?

For something like OS re-installs, maybe USB drives. For everything else, downloads, probably. That seems like a logical course of action. But then again, a lot of people don't like to use logic when they make decisions.

    Agreed.

But why is your name Joshua if you hate the Jews?

Its not.. It is Yasha Mykhaylovych - Yasha is the Ukrainian/slavic name for Joshua.. Mykhaylovych is my patronomic or middle name. Plus, I have a son named Yasha also.

and no, I am not Jewish.. even though my father is but to the Jews, I am not considered one of them since my mother is Ukrainian.

The only thing that needs to be solved though are the dirty practices in both coal and nickel/lithium mining. Yeah, power plants are more efficient at burning coal then an ICE burning gasoline and drilling for oil is no green walk in the park either, but these things need to be solved as well.

Ya i see what you're saying too. I just think far too often the choices made by the buying public are used to fault the automakers. For example, the fact that Ford now sells an excellent, fuel efficient hatchback in the Ford Fiesta doesn't change the fact that, in November for example, 3473 people in the US bought a Fiesta, while 38,541 people decided they needed an F-Series. In this regard, I think it's ridiculous for the government to mandate that a company build a certain number of xx mpg cars, regardless of whether people actually want to buy those cars or not. Instead, the government should create incentives to encourage people to buy more efficient vehicles. You can't blame car companies for building vehicles that satisfy a profitable segment of the market. Unfortunately, GAS TAX is way too scary a concept for any sane politician to touch with a 10-foot pole.

CAFE is set in place for the reason you mentioned, no politician will touch the gas tax issue. Since politicians don't want to tax gas to get Americans to buy more fuel efficient vehicles, they are forced to make the cars themselves more efficient.

I got a nice fast MBP 13 a little over a year ago. Then I got an MBA 11 for its portability. Worried whether it was different enough to be worth it. But now I use the MBP 13 far less often, it's become my desktop computer.

The MBP used to go places in a backpack or briefcase. The MBA 11 gets carried around like a magazine.

The MBA 11 is more portable than an iPad plus a small Bluetooth keyboard.

they even tracking iphone locations now!

They don't use that information, it's just on your phone and in back ups. I'm sure now people have kicked up a fuss about it, they will do something to encrypt or remove that file. It's hardly on the same scale as google recording data from unsecure wi-fi networks in people's homes, using their mapping vans.

From what I've seen of it on cars, carbon fiber is quite susceptible to scratching, and scratches can look very prominent. Not sure it would make such a great enclosure material. True, it would be better for WiFi transmission, but it would also keep more heat in. Possibly a replacement for plastic, but IMO not a replacement for unibody aluminum.
