    Microsoft kills basically everything.
They pretty much killed the netscape browser, they pretty killed other office suites, they are going to tery to kill the iPod now?
    What next after that?
One thing they have'nt killed yet is the Mac OS operating system.
Getting more and more upset at them.

That's awesome. Tomorrow will definitely be a huge day of celebration in the US.

    Rather macabre, in my opinion...

I got my MBP early so now I would love to get a monitor to bump up the resolution. I'm really liking the HPs monitors right now, so I'd like one of those.

I won't get that though as the MBP was my Christmas present. Tempted to buy one of those monitors when I get money from my relatives, so it'll be like a joint present from them...

We need an upvoting system like Reddit. Here's a +1 for you.

Who the hell are we to judge?

Who said we have to live til 105 years old?

I have met crazier "normal" people who weren't even on drugs!

Exactly! He is doing what he wants. Why does he have to do what other people want?

Also, the more we talk about him, the more he wins. If people continue to talk about him, he will just keep winning. There really is not anything else to discuss, but the media seems to enjoy rehashing his choices for some reason.

    Congrats on the win, Charlie.

Once you get over the delusion of Macs running iOS apps, the Apple TV 2 makes the most sense.

So why does iBooks also have this code name? iBooks would be lousy on AppleTV. Also "Find my iPhone", "Remote" and "Atari's Greatest Hits" also have it.

One more thing, it is impossible for me to write reviews on the App Store at the moment, it simply scrolls to the top and doesnt show the Review form. Perhaps they are reworking the App Store???

    3.. 2.. 1.. FIGHT (ding ding)

We are buying apple products and or samsung products so they can toss the money in lawyers instead of r&d. Somebody really toke the Gene Simmons approach: "Make sure there are no incursions. Be litigious. Sue everybody. Take their homes, their cars. Don't let anybody cross that line.".

does this still have lag/freezing issues?

I know when lion beta was first released it would lag and freeze a lot! also it was very unstable, 80% of the apps would crash constantly.

I get about the same drop rate or worse in the DC Metro area. I also have friends on AT&T that have their text messages go to the wrong person. Thinking seriously of getting a Verizon BB and an iPod Touch to replace my iPhone. :(:(:( Sorry :apple:

I get very good reception in the DC metro area (NoVA). I estimate only 1-5% dropped calls, which is acceptable to me.

Thunderbolt IO is qualms there. Im just not sure how applicable it is in the laptop arena. IMO, if youre a professional with massive external storage...which is needed to be accessed quickly: youre already using a desktop. Also, Im not sure what good ThunderBolt accessed HDD do the drives are the bottleneck. Its gonna be a little while before I hook the ol' TB SSD enclosure(cause I dont have the cheddar to buy on) up to my ThunderBolt MacbookPro. Its kinda like Bugatti Tires on a Nissan Z.

I guess I have the opposite view of this since I will buy from iTunes as long as they continue to provide a lossless format--and Amazon provides only a lossy format. That is more important to me than a slight price difference. AAC plays on anything I need to play it on--and it could be converted to another lossless format such as FLAC if you really wanted to get out from under Apple's proprietary format. I am also a huge Amazon fan and a Prime member and buy a lot of stuff from them--but not MP3s.

I don't want to burst your bubble but Apple sell their tracks in a lossy format. Apple's format for iTunes purcases is a different beast to Flac.

I don't really think the kid is rolling with a credit card of his own at 11 years of age. So maybe the mother should think about setting up a iTunes account for her son with a apple gift card or pre-pay visa. That way he can't run wild like Hulkamania with her credit card.... I wish my parents would of let me have free access to there visa as a kid

One of the biggest moments in the World's history, not only America. Osama Bin Laden, the number 1 most wanted terrorist is finally dead.

I guess this proves everyone who doubted America and might have lost faith, that yes America can. Looks like Obama will be getting a 2nd term now.

I always knew it would be Obama vs Osama once he was elected. Very proud day for everyone who believes in peace.

Now, it's the Pakistan government which is in question, looks like Osama was chilling at a Pakistan Military hub for 6 years under the protection of Pakistan. And they said Osama wasn't in Pakistan lol.. he was living it large in a mansion and people thought he was in a cave.

Short-term wise, i'm worried about the retaliation of the terrorists. Looks like everyone will be on edge for the next few months. Also, i'm afraid more and more people might decide to take up Osama's old position as leader.
The war on terror isn't over, but this has definitely struck a very significant blow.

Some bird tweeted to me that his death was like a "BOOM HEADSHOT!"

I didn't read any Wikis. None of my links are to wikis. And again, you're wrong. GPL is a license. GNU is a project. The Foundation behind this project is the FSF, the Free Software Foundation.

The guy you quoted was me. You didn't correct me at all, you posted a ton of wrong information.

And licensing terminology ? I didn't even get it wrong. I said Bash was part of the GNU project, you said "No, Bash isn't GNU, it's GPL", which is both very wrong and quite misunderstands the terminology used by the FSF.

Look, you were wrong, drop it, you're only digging yourself deeper into your hole here.

Go look at Apple source repository for OSX 10.6 -> - states GPL LICENSE -> i said License -> GNU evolved into a foundation -> started off as a project.

Enjoy your day & easter ;)

Overall I'm impressed. I wasn't expecting a GPU bump (though an upgrade to a Geforce 7600GT would have been possible and nice for the 15" model). What surprises me is that even the base model has 1x1GB of RAM-and at least with my educational discount adding a second 1GB stick from Apple is cheaper than Crucial!

The large hard drive size is great too! And presumably this is the now-working Rev b.

But...the hard drive is still difficult to access, right? That's what's kept me from buying a Macbook Pro so far. Basically I'm parinoid about having to send it in for service with that drive in there. Obviously there's all kinds of personal info on a hard drive I don't want floating around out there.
That's what's stopping me from getting this.

If not for that, I just did the math, and this comes out to roughly $400 more than a Macbook, which isn't terrible.
(Guess I would want the non-glossy screen? I guess that looks like a normal desktop LCD?)

Disappointing, but expected. This actually brings up more questions than answers though:

    1) Is this a permanent move to a Fall Release of the iPhone?

    2) When, if ever, are they going to unite the CDMA and GSM iPhone releases (possibly in iPhone 5 with "World Chip")?

    3) Does this affect the timing of iOS's release, which has traditionally been released with the new iPhone and has been centered around the iPhone's hardware?

    4) The iPod touch has traditionally been released months after the iPhone. If the iPhone is released around Sept, will they release the iPod touch along with it?

Meh, I don't have an upgrade for 1.5 years, so it doesn't matter to me. But still interesting.

Did ye all not read the report. The whole point is that it is a "Proximity sensor" . That it can detect your gestures while "spaced away" from the ipod. This would be no big deal if it required rubbing your greasy fingers all over the display!! Yes and it states "a touch screen display" "For multifunctional handheld devices".

"The method includes sensing an object spaced away and in close proximity to the electronic device. The method also includes performing an action in the electronic device when an object is sensed." Meaning when I'm close to touching the darn thing do/show this when this is happening on screen.

    Did you read it?

    EDIT: Still not "touchless" either....
"For example, when using a touch sensing device along with a proximity detection system, advanced gestures may be performed that combine proximity gestures along with touch gestures."
