In The Right Light

"In the right light, at the right time, everything is extraordinary."

~Aaron Rose

One of the things I am challenged by when decorating my house is how to make the rooms seem light and airy when all of my furniture is dark.  I went so far as to paint my walls yellow in 2 of the main rooms in the desperate attempt to lighten things up.

Some shots of my living room.

The yellow walls have brightened things up but there are still days when I wish I could change all the stained wood to creamy white.  I know all you painters out there would encourage me to do just that.  I think I'm going to start with one piece and see how I do.

Here are some very lovely rooms that are light and bright yet have dark furniture.

I just love this room.  I could sit in it all day.

These slipcovers look like they wouldn't be too hard to make.  Watch out Miss Mustard Seed!

This is my inspiration for my dining room...I would love to add fabric to my chairs.

I think it's interesting that there isn't a rug under this table.  Not having a rug makes the room look bigger.

So...do you have a trick or two to lighten things up?

By the way...check out the chandeliers in some of these pictures.
Great inspiration there as well.
