Hello...I was inspired by some very talented bloggers to change up the top of my TV cabinet. During the holidays I had it decked out with greenery and red balls...but that was before my blogging days and I don't have any pics. This is what it has looked like since I took the Christmas decorations down.
Pretty plain jane. I love the urns...they are a Hobby Lobby find from a few years ago.
After a few failed attempts this is what I ended up with.
(I really need to get a new television...this one is ancient.)
The plates and pitchers are I. Godinger. I have collected it for several years. I run across pieces on eBay or TJMaxx...usually when I'm looking for something else. Once there was a seller on eBay who was getting rid of her entire collection. I got the plates from her.
The picture has a history...the little print was in my husband's boyhood bedroom. It was matted in beige with a black frame. When we got married the picture came with my husband. He told me at some point that his mother had given it to him. It hung in the living room of our first house. At some point I had it re-framed with navy mat and a gold metal frame. What you see now is the third time around for this piece. When I painted my living room walls yellow, I knew I wanted the mat changed to red. It has hung on the wall until this afternoon when I put it on the top of the cabinet. I think I like it there...
We all have pieces that we become attached to over the years. I am a firm believer in keeping what we love, but remixing it to adapt with our changing tastes and styles. This piece has had 3 lives so far...and it will probably have a few more.
One of these days I'm going to paint the cabinet sort of a creamy white. I'll let you know how that goes!
