Hello There. As a new blogger, I am discovering all sorts of things and meeting new people every day. Today I found My Romantic Home and Cindy's Show and Tell Friday. I'd like to tell you all about something I found on the 3rd floor of my in-law's home when we were cleaning it out to sell.
As we were sorting, opening closet doors and looking in boxes I was hoping to come across something interesting that would tell a story about my mother-in-law. I never knew her...she passed away several years before I met my husband. I've always had a sort of curiosity about her...anyway in one of the closets was a set of leather luggage. And it was red. Gorgeous, rich red. There were 5 pieces ranging in size from a little "train case" to a huge square suitcase. They were lined in pink satin. And each one had a gold monogram by the handle. The letters EMD. Which, by the way, are my daughter's initials as well. She was named for my husband's mother.
I asked my sister-in-law if I could have the luggage and she of course said I could. I brought it home and cleaned it up. I got some cleaner at an auto store that is meant for leather car seats. It did a wonderful job. I have had 2 of the suitcases in my living room since then. Here they are.
I use them for storage...all of my beading materials are in them. They have become quite a conversation piece. People ask about them and want to know where they came from. I wish I knew where they had traveled and what they saw. But I'll never really know for sure...
Here's where you can find Cindy. Her button is also on my sidebar. Come join the fun!
